The brain isn't divided into compartments. In fact, creativity -- which I define as the process of having original ideas that have value -- more often than not comes about through the interaction of different disciplinary ways of seeing things.

→ compartment: 분리 / disciplinary : 징계의/ 훈육,훈련/ 절제력

→ Come about: 발생하다. / Seeing things: 존재하지 않는 사물을 보는 것

해석>> 뇌는 작은 구역들로 나뉘어지지 않았습니다. 사실, 창의성은 가지고 있는 가치의 독창적인 아이디어를 생각해내는 과정이라고 정의할 수 있습니다 - 창의력은 서로 다르게 발달된 관점들의 상호 작용에서 일어난다고 생각합니다.

"If a tree falls in a forest, and nobody hears it, did it happen?" Remember that old chestnut? I saw a great T-shirt recently, which said, "If a man speaks his mind in a forest, and no woman hears him, is he still wrong?"

해석>> "만일 숲에 나무 한그루가 쓰러지는데, 그 소리를 들은 사람이 아무도 없다면, 과연 그 나무는 쓰러진 것인가?" 라는 오래된 속담을 기억하시나요? 최근에 정말 멋진 T-Shirt를 보았는데, "만일 한 남자가 숲 속에서 그의 생각을 외치는데, 그 어느 여자도 그의 말을 듣지 못했다면, 그 남자의 말은 헛소리입니까?" 라고 쓰여있었습니다.

I'm doing a new book at the moment called "Epiphany," which is based on a series of interviews with people about how they discovered their talent. I'm fascinated by how people got to be there.

→ be fascinated by: ~에 매료되다. 마음을 빼앗기다.

해석>> 현재 "에피포니(Epiphany)라는 새로운 서적을 작성 중에 있는데, 그들의 재능이 어떻게 발견되어 졌는지에 관해서 사람들의 인터뷰로 이루어진 내용입니다. 사람들이 어떻게 그러한 위치에 이르게 되었는지에 관해서 매우 관심이 많습니다.

And the only way we'll do it is by seeing our creative capacities for the richness they are and seeing our children for the hope that they are. And our task is to educate their whole being, so they can face this future.

→ creative capacities: 창의적인 능력 / whole being: 존재 전체, 온몸과 마음/ face: ~마주하다, 직면하다.

해석>> 그렇게 할 수 있는 유일한 방법은 우리의 창의적인 능력을 보며, 그것의 풍부함을 깨닫고, 아이들을 보며, 그들이 희망이라는 점을 깨닫는 것입니다. 우리의 과제는 아이들이 미래에 맞설 수 있도록 전인교육을 하는 것입니다.
